WTF?????!!!!!!! MY COMPUTER JUST DID THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1!!!!!!!111!!!!!!!

In DTE we have been doing various things. We started the term by creating a site for our DTE work. It contains most of what we have done over the course of the term. It is created by google sites and is kinda average

Next, we created an infographic about Ergonomics. Ergonomics is a study of workplace efficiency and how it can be more efficient. I used Venngage to create my ergonomic. I had a lot of fun creating it and it was the first time I had used Venngage to create something so I was glad that it was very easy to use

In our third lesson, we played a game called Interland. It was a game that teaches people about cyber-bullying. It is quite a fun game and carries a good message. Interland is about internet safety and not getting trapped by bullies. There are different levels, and these are a couple of them
Reality River: Teaches you some of the signs of a possible scam, such as receiving an e-mail from some you never heard of or a relative you didn't know had a computer.
Mindful Mountain: Teaches you what people you should send different kinds of messages to, such as video you and your friends made, it should be sent to those friends.
Interland is an overall pretty good game. It helps send important messages in a way people will understand.

Our fourth lesson brought me back to Venngage to make another infographic about cyber-safety and a website that focuses on how to be cyber smart. The site is called Uru Manuka. It is a cool site and if you want to be more cyber smart the check it out:https://sites.google.com/a/manaiakalani.org/cybersmart/home

And last so far for the term we have been doing a project on a site called Digital Bytes, Here is what I wrote:

News Literacy

What part of this video struck you the most: The part of the video that struck me the most would be the
part where it was talking about how a lot of online news sources were changing to personalise who gets
what news. I think all news sources should just show people the really important stuff otherwise people
will misleading news

News Literacy Video B
1. The purpose of journalism is to inform people of what is happening so they can have an understanding
of what to do
2. A couple of years ago my mum read somewhere (not sure where) that Indycar driver Scott Dixon had
retired from racing. The way she recovered the truth is when the first race was on and Scott Dixon was
racing. He later won the championship for the 5th time
3. You can tell if a news story is true if any other news sites have covered it. Some stories will seem like
they should be headlines around the world but they are only covered by one site
4. The repercussion for someone who provides fake news is an interesting scenario. My friends and I
were talking about it the other day and a couple of times one said the death sentence. I think the penalty
should be a fine of anywhere from 20 to 60% of that person's income and suspension of around 2 - 3 years
5. I haven’t heard this quote through the news but my very smart friend Nathan says it sometimes
6. Fake news sites are annoying, however, the onion admits that it is built solely for satirical purposes

I had a lot of fun this term with DTE and I look forward to next term with Mr Carter

Supergirl - English

I English we have been watching Supergirl and trying to understand how it correlates to the real world. In Supergirl, there are aliens and those aliens are treated like immigrants (which is weird because sometimes immigrants are referred to as aliens). We were asked to write a paragraph and here it is

Supergirl, Welcome to Earth carries many messages about Racism, Sexism and many other isms. Although fictitious it suggests a lot about the current world and how every corner you turn they WILL a person who has different views and they will most likely be extreme.

Thanks for reading and please comment as it really helps my learning

Athletics 2019

Over the course of the last month, we have been doing athletics. I usually don't enjoy athletics, but the help I've received from Mr Stokes and Mr Hilliard I've found myself getting better, and enjoying athletics. I do still have more things to improve on, but here are some things I have improved on.

Triple Jump: This year we were introduced to triple jump. It is a lot of fun, but a lot of work. However, I have picked up the Hop, skip, jump technique. Mr Hilliard said that I was naturally very good at it.

Discus: I have always been good at discus (sort of), but with the encouragement of My good Comrade Stokes, I have gotten better and I even learned the spin technique

I have had a lot of fun with athletics this, something I thought I never would, but thanks to my teachers I have gotten a lot better. Please give feedback as it helps my learning, thanks

The Underground Railroad

In social studies, we are learning about the slaves in the 1800's. I have made a slide show about Harriet Tubman and The Underground Railroad, let me know what you think:

The underground railroad was important to the slaves as knowing about it helped the slaves get through the tough times of working in the fields

Please give me feedback as it helps me improve on my work

Anaerobic Respiration

Aim: To demonstrate the effects of anaerobic respiration (muscle fatigue)
Hypothesis: I think that my muscles will take a while to fatigue
Equipment: A spring-loaded clothes peg
Method:

  1. Hold the clothes peg as shown in the diagram below
  2. Relax your fingers so that the peg closes all the way
  3. Squeeze your thumb and forefinger so the peg is fully open
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 as quickly as you can until you experience muscle fatigue
Results: The more that I moved the peg, the more my muscles started to feel pain. My muscles were exercised more the longer I did it.  In relation to my hypothesis, I was wrong.
Conclusion: I saw that peg was slowing down because my muscles got tired
Evaluation: I would try to go for longer and see how much more it hurts

Human Rights Poster

One of the tasks we were given in social studies was to make a poster displaying all the human rights. This is mine, hope you like it:
This was a fun task and I would do something like it again.

Let me know what you think in the comments.
