John Whiskers: The Easy Part
John Whiskers was no ordinary cat. He was, special. He could do things most cats, couldn’t do. He could feel emotions. But he never really paid much attention to it. Till one day, which is when our story begins.
It was Christmas Eve, the Schweppenheims were preparing for their first Christmas in their new American home. “Dis will be a very good Christmas ya.” “Ya, we have plenty of schnitzels.” And they made sure that they fed their cat before bed. Their cat. Was. Johnathan Tobias Alexander Benjamin Samuel Whiskers. He noticed that there was some milk sitting on the counter. He knew that is was obviously his, because he was their favourite cat (better than Jaquelin at least). But he had to find a way up. But there was an obstacle. Jaquelin. She thought it was hers. So she did the most intelligent thing she had ever done. She meowed at it. Oh, Jaquelin, foolish as always. John Whiskers did the smart thing, he moved the furniture to get to the milk, he climbed and he climbed, but found himself getting smaller and smaller. He finally made it to the milk, but he was too small to get to it. He found himself being taken over by his cat instincts. He jumped in.
As he was falling he could see all nine lives flash before his two very little eyes. Until he landed with a thud. But he didn't just land on his feet. He landed on, buildings. He found himself staring at a small man.
The Reciever of the milk. “Mr Whiskers, I have brought you here to teach you a lesson. You mustn’t steal milk. Get your own milk.” “MEOW!” replied John. He didn’t like being told to do. He looked at the little fat man very angrily. Remember how I told you he had some, skills. He ran to the man, and roundhouse kicked the jolly out of him. “Naughty, John, Naughty!” But John didn’t care. He wanted milk, and he wanted it now. He was so angry he could’ve climbed a Christmas tree. He wrecked the whole town and plus some. Little screams were heard below as he used his mad kung fu skills to get back at the town that did virtually nothing to him. But that was the easy part, next it was the hard part…

Falcon Heavy
Aim: I want to find out how the Space X Falcon Heavy boosters landed themselves
Research: It turns out the boosters were two Falcon 9 first stages. Falcon 9 was the test vehicle for the SpaceX Reusable Launch System Development Program. This is a program created by SpaceX to develop a rocket capable of launching over and over while also landing itself. This takes time and money to build. The research has been immense. The rocket cost over $90,000,000 USD to build. And it hasn't been entirely successful. The Falcon Heavy's side boosters landed perfectly, The main engine, not so much. The rocket failed to land safely and it was back to the drawing board

The names Malone, Bugsy Malone
In Musical theatre, we are learning the musical Bugsy Malone. it is set in 1920 about a man who tries to make his way through a gang war.
- The buildings in the 1920s were very grand and large, such as the Chrysler Building (which by the way was built in 1928)
- Fashion was very showy and glamorous in the 20's, where it was uncommon for a dress to be without sparkles
- In the 1920's women were expected to entertain the men as well as do their chores. Men were, however, unable to legally drink alcohol
- Men would often go to speakeasy's and shows to watch women dance and sing for entertainment

Curiosity Topic - Air New Zealand's New Plane
Recently Air NZ got a new plane from Airbus. Even though it came nearly a year late *coughs*, I'm still excited.
Air New Zealand has 6 more a321neo's and 6 a320neo's on order and they will take up the roles of trans-Tasman and Pacific Island routes
It pretty cool. This is the second Air New Zealand plane to be first delivered with an all-black livery on it. Second after the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner

What Happens To Food
Ingestion
JOHN KEY!!
Digestion - The Stomach
Digestion - The Liver
Absorption
Egestion
- When you put food in your mouth
- Chewing food is called mastication
- The Salivary Glands releases saliva into the mouth to lubricate and then you swallow and it goes down your oesophagus
JOHN KEY!!
- The food is 'pushed' down the oesophagus to the stomach by waves of muscle contractions. This process is called Peristalsis
- The Stomach Can Hold 2 - 4 litres of fluid and is able to expand and take more food to protect us from scavengers
- The Stomach holds very dangerous acids and can hurt you if you throw up too much
- The pH of the acids are around 1 - 2
Digestion - The Small Intestine
- The pH in the small intestine is usually 7 - 9
- The walls are lined with small finger-like projections called villi which increase the surface area of the small intestine
- These villi are covered in microvilli which again increase the surface area of the small intestine
- With a larger surface area, the food nutrients can be absorbed quicker
- The liver is the second largest organ in the human body after the skin
- After they are digested, the nutrients are absorbed and transported to the liver via the Hepatic Portal Vein
- The liver creates bile which is then stored in the gall bladder
Absorption
Egestion

I wonder how could Jurassic World have been saved?
So I got a new game, Jurassic World Evolution
and it is fun. You get to build your own Jurassic World and succeed where the original Jurassic World failed. But that made me wonder, how did the OG Jurassic World fail, and how could it be saved.
The main idea of Jurassic World is they create a new dinosaur called the Indomonius Rex, that is a mix of many different dinosaurs to make the ultimate dino, but it is so intelligent that it creates a plane escape its enclosure and wreck havoc on Isla Nublar. It works and many people die. But why did it break out?
The Indominous Rex is made of many different dinosaurs, including, Tyrannosaurus rex, Giganotosaurus, Spinosaurus and announced at the end of the movie, Velociraptor. These are some of the most vicious dinosaurs to ever roam the planet, all mixed into one. Tha is a recipe for disaster. The best way to stop this from happening is to not have made the I-Rex at all, and stop that from happening is to not have let Masrani in charge as he is the one who asked for the creation of the I-Rex. But the man who oversaw the creation of the dino was Dr Henry Wu. If he had been fired after the events of Jurassic Park the I-Rex would have never been made as any other Scientist would have resisted the large sum of money (maybe) to make the I-Rex and Jurassic World would still be open
So that is my post about how Jurassic World could have been saved. I hope you enjoyed and I really want to watch the second movie so like and subscribe

I wonder what is the best way to win the Le Mans 24 hour race
Le Mans was recently on, and it was cool. 24 hours of non-stop racing, long pit stops and funny radio comments, and that makes me wonder, what is the winning formula (one) of the Le Mans 24 Hour, so some time
and some facts
and I'll find out.
The most important thing is speed, and the fastest cars are the lmp1 cars
In the latest race, the number 8 Toyota LMP1 won the race. LMP, by the way, stands for Le Mans Prototype. They are hybrid cars that can travel up to 416 km/h, which is very fast. So that is the best car.
Next is drivers and crew. You need top drivers who are experienced that know the circuit very well,
know the brake markers and the best passing spots. Say, Sebastian Bourdais. It is his home track as he was born in Le Mans, France. He has been in it for almost 10 races and has won it 1 or 2 times in his class, so he is on the team. Next, let's take another person, a more recent winner. Take Fernando Alonso. Two time Formula One champion and 2018 overall Le Mans 24hr winner. He put the 2018 Toyota LMP1 team on the first spot of the grid and helped them to victory. And to complete the team of three, Earl Bamber. He is from New Zealand and has won the race twice overall and the Bathurst 12 hour twice in his class. He is also the 2017 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) winner and does very well in sports car racing.
So the driver line up is:
Sebastien Bourdais Fernando Alonso Earl Bamber
You also need a good pit crew to do a good pit stop and get out in front of the other cars so you can win Le Mans, but I don't know much about that so I'll just use the Toyota Crew.
And that is about it to win the Le Mans 24 Hour. You need a good car, three highly skilled drivers and the best crew around. I'm so excited for the 2019 Le Mans 24 hour and who know's, maybe my dream team will be there.

Term 2 English
In English this term, we did a lot. We finished reading the book abomination, and we started writing our essays. We learnt to write our essays in a variety of ways, using different tools to create it. After we started making static images. The static image had to relate to the book and contain a quote and scene from the book. Mine was a scene where Martha, who is the book's protagonist, walking away from Scott's house at night

I wonder who was the cause of the 2018 Canadian Grand Prix Lap 1 crash
So the Canadian Grand Prix was recently on and the only kiwi in it crashed on the first lap. Brendon Hartley was trying to go around the outside of home driver Lance Stroll. It is said Stroll had oversteer and nearly turned into the wall (not really though) and had to turn away as Hartley was on his outside. The result was this.
Race control said the accident was no one's fault and to let it be. Claire Williams, Deputy of Williams F1 which is the team that Stroll belongs to, said it was Hartley's fault. But many are opposing.
Now comes to me, I have come to solve it. I will study all angles of the crash and solve who's fault it was.
So it was decided and proven by Stroll himself he had understeer
As you can see Stroll was turning left on a right turn, meaning he was trying not to turn in to the wall
In this photo, you can see that Stroll in the white car is sideways, further proof he had oversteer
At the point of impact, Hartley was still trying to turn away from the wall. This suggests that this
Was Stroll's fault.
Like my dad always says, the day you don't look for a gap to get past is the day you don't belong in the car.
And that concludes my curiosity topic, that the lap one crash in Canada was Lance Stroll's fault rather than Brendon Hartleys. So you were wrong Claire Williams, it wasn't Hartley's fault. And I really hope that Hartley does better in France.

I wonder how the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve got it's name
So the Canadian Grand Prix is coming up and I am so ready for the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. But every time I hear the name I wonder why, why did the Canadians call it the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
Where is it?
It is in the middle of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. And it started hosting the GP in 1978 after safety concerns came out at Mosport Park which held the GP before it.
What is its history?
The circuit was originally called Île Notre-Dame Circuit, after the island it is situated on, Île Notre-Dame. But in 1982 the circuit was renamed Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in honour of Gilles Villeneuve who died that year.
Who was Gilles Villeneuve?
Gilles Villeneuve was a Canadian Formula 1 driver who won only six Grand Prix in his short career. His first race was at the 1977 British Grand Prix where he raced for McLaren. He made his professional debut the year after full time with the Ferrari team. He raced until his death in 1982 at qualifying for the Belgium Grand Prix after colliding with Jochen Mass at the Zolder circuit. He was 32 years old. He was an idol and hero to many including his son Jaques Villeneuve, wherein 1997 became the first and only Canadian to win the F1 World Championship.
To commemorate him the start finish was decorated with a saying.
Salut Gilles, French for Hello Gilles, talking to him above

I wonder how much did it cost to build Yas Island
Yas Island in Abu Dhabi is a man-made island that was built in 2006 and onwards (as it is forever growing). It is an island that has initial means of leisure and comfort/relaxation. It is home to the 235,000 square metre mall, Yas Mall, the theme park with the worlds fastest roller coaster, Ferrari world and the most expensive race track in the world, Yas Marina Circuit. The island currently 25 square kilometres.
I looked around for a while and finally came to the decision that I was stupid because I didn't realise that it is still being built so the total cost isn't officially released. But I estimated that with the costs of all the buildings and things it would be over $20 Billion.
Thank you for reading my blog.

I wonder how much it cost to build the Yas Marina Circuit
In 2009 there was a new race track opened in the United Arab Emirates. It was claimed it was the most expensive race track in the world. That made me wonder, how much did the Yas Marina Circuit cost to build.
I was searching the web and found Ameinfo.com. The article was titled Yas Marina Circuit: 11 things to know about the route to the F1 championship. It has many interesting facts including, the participants in the F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix drive 55 laps around the 5.554 km track and do an estimated 305.355 km before finishing. But it also displayed my answer, it costed a total of $1.3 Billion to construct over a 2 year period.

Sustained Silent Reading#4 - The Luck change of Carlos Sainz
Today in SSR I was reading on the F1 website about how Spaniard Carlos Sainz is improving his results through the season. In the first race in Australia, he finished 10th, gaining only one point. In Bahrain for the second race, he came 11th, barely missing out on the points. And for the third race in China, he came 9th, adding only 2 points to his tally. His luck changed in Azerbaijan though, coming 5th and getting seven more points than his season total in one race. He is saying that he is still not as comfortable in the Renault than in his Toro Rosso, which he abandoned last season with four races to go for the Renault, but he feels that he has more control than before.
I think the recommended group would be people interested in this sort of thing

Sustained Silent Reading#3 - Team Quotes For Barcelona
Today in English I was reading a Formula 1 Article about what the teams were looking forward to about the next race in Barcelona at the Circuit de Catalunya in Spain. Some of the teams are looking forward to it because of the fact it is one of the best-known tracks on the tour. It is really popular because it is the location of F1 winter testing. The teams are also looking out for ways to manage the tire wear.
I think the recommended group would be people who follow F1 or motorsport in general
I am really excited for the Formula Gran Premio De Espana Emirates 2018 (2018 Formula 1 Emirates Spanish Grand Prix) because it is a really good track.

Sustained Silent Reading#2 - Will it be Force India or Williams
Today for SSR in English I was reading about a deal that the Mercedes F1 Team has been thinking about for a long time. Ever since Haas F1 Team has been in the sport (Entered in 2016) they have had a deal where they not only use the engine (which Mercedes leases to Force India and Williams) but the whole set up of the supplier, Ferrari. It has been a complicated decision, as in the past Force India appealed the decision when it happened, where they asked whether or not it was legal in the rules when the F1 Race Director found it was completely legal. Mercedes have been eyeing up their engine partners on their performance throughout the so far 2018 season and say 'It is a possibility for the 2019 season'. It will be a hard decision though with Force India (Who not only use the engine but gearbox as well) not liking the whole situation of borrowing the car components, and the other team, Williams, preferring to 'be their own manufacturer' and only use the engine.
I think the target audience would be people interested in motorsport because they are the ones who most likely understand it

Sustained Silent Reading#1 - Who will Sign Ricciardo?
Today in Sustained Silent Reading (SSR) I was reading on the Formula 1 website about a matter that has been going around the sport. Red Bull star driver Daniel Ricciardo has been with the team for 10 years and hasn't yet signed a contract to go to others for 2019. There are many offers going around and many are wondering, who will sign Ricciardo?
I think the text is to inform the reader of the Australians team choices and the probability of going to that team.
I think the target reader is people who follow the sport of f1
Here is a link to the article about Danny Ric's options: F1 Article

The Revolting Review: 9Bu
L.O: Work together and perform in front of an audience
What Have I learnt? I learnt how to work together with other people to create and perform a musical
How does this work show my learning: It shows my learning by showing that I helped perform the musical
What did I find challenging? I found it challenging remembering the choreography and when to do it
What would I do differently if I did this again? I would give myself a more out there role
What did I enjoy? I enjoyed performing the musical because it was good to see all the hard work go to good use
What am I wondering? I am wondering what it would have been like if we did one of the other musicals instead
What was it like performing on the day? I was a little bit nervous but it was still really fun after 6 weeks of practice

The Behaviour of matter: Diffusion
Aim: To observe diffusion in a liquid.
Equipment: Beaker, water, a plastic straw, a crystal of potassium permanganate.
Method:
Equipment: Beaker, water, a plastic straw, a crystal of potassium permanganate.
Method:
- Half fill your Beaker with cold tap water.
- Place the petri dish on your workbench and allow the water to become settled.
- Using the plastic straw, put your finger over the straw and put in water. Remove finger and place a single crystal of potassium permanganate in the centre of the Beaker.
- Observe for 5 minutes.
- Repeat the experiment using hot water.
Discussion: In cold water, the crystal diffused in a rapid motion and went everywhere in the water.
In hot water, the crystal diffused mostly around the bottom of the beaker
Investigating State Changes
Aim: To observe water as it changes state from solid to liquid and then to a gas
Equipment: A 250 mL, thermometer, Bunsen Burner, Heatproof mat, tripod and gauze mat, stopwatch, Retort stand and clamp, Ice Cubes
Method
Set up the retort stand and clamp alongside the tripod and gauze mat.
1: Collect enough ice so that your beaker is half full and place the thermometer into it while you set up the rest of the equipment.
2: Set up the retort stand and clamp alongside the tripod and gauze mat.
3: Place the beaker of ice on the gauze mat and gently clamp the thermometer so that it is held upright and the scale is easy to use. the bottom of your thermometer should be low enough to still be covered by water when the ice melts, but not touching the bottom of the beaker.
4: Record the initial temperature of the ice in the data table below.
5: Light the bunsen burner and start timing with the stopwatch.
6: Measure and record the temperature every minute.
7: Continue measuring and recording the temperature until the water has been boiling for 2-3 minutes.
